Every person should have access to a high quality education that allows them to be successful in their communities and in their personal lives. We must work to build equity and provide extensive resources and mentorship to our youth, especially those who are low-income and students of color.
It is also imperative that we focus on those that the K-12 system has let slip through the cracks. Both youth and adults deserve re-engagement programs that support students on non-traditional education pathways and that offer wrap-around services to ensure those with the most barriers to accessing a quality education are not blocked from reaching their goals.
Furthermore, teachers and educators deserve more than just a living wage. We must uplift the voices of our educators and provide them with the resources and funding they feel is necessary to support the young people in realizing their potential, solve problems, and actively engage in their communities.
